The perfect gift! A beautiful stone with flowers!
As many of you may know, John and I travel to Arizona during the winter months to rock hunt. This year is different. We typically travel south and participate in a number of fine art shows but this year is different. We are usually so excited to get in the truck and start on our journey out west, but this year is different. We didn't apply to any art shows in Arizona. We didn't make plans at our usual place where we stay in Chandler, AZ. We didn't make plans to have someone (typically my mom) come stay at our house while we are away.
You see, our Lab, Tanner turned 14 this past October and is showing his age. HIs back legs aren't strong anymore... he tends to fall more and more often. Coughs a quite bit... Cataracts blur his vision and his hearing seems to be failing. I question his mental capacity as well as I found him standing in my dressing room/closet ~ not sure how long he had been standing there but I asked him, "What are you doing in here?", and he kindof looked at me as if to say, "Well, I'm not sure." So you see, this year is different. We didn't want to leave him so the thought was to just forego our southwestern trip and stay home with Tanner. That was until this morning...
Our friend Char sent John this video... please watch Denali's story.
So a decision was made. Tanner is coming with us to Arizona! John's a strong man... he'll have to lift Tanner ~ all 110 lbs of him ~ in and out of the truck as well as up and down the stairs at the condo. We'll have to make a few more stops along the way but that's ok. So, I guess this year will be different... Tanner gets to come along on our adventure. We'll be leaving the 4th of February and will be back sometime around the 16th or 17th. So, if you happen to pass the shop and see a sign that reads, "GONE ROCK HUNTING", you know where we'll be...
